Great Lakes Home Remodeling won a 2026 BBB Torch Award for Ethics from BBB Serving Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan. The Torch Award is the Better Business Bureau's highest honor for a business, and it is judged on ethical conduct rather than sales or size. CEO Doug Farr accepted the award on behalf of the company.
In September we shared that Great Lakes Home Remodeling had been named a finalist for the 2026 BBB Torch Awards for Ethics. We can now share the rest of the story: the Better Business Bureau named us a winner, and CEO Doug Farr accepted the award on the company's behalf.

The Torch Awards for Ethics, formerly called the Integrity Awards, are not a popularity contest and cannot be bought. The BBB evaluates how a company's leadership sets ethical standards, how those standards reach the people who actually work in customers' homes, how the company handles complaints and mistakes, and how it shows up in its community. The full list of honorees is in the BBB's announcement of the 2026 Torch Awards for Ethics recipients.
For a remodeling company, the part about mistakes carries the most weight. Every contractor eventually has a job that goes sideways: a delivery arrives wrong, a storm interrupts a tear-off, or a homeowner and a crew see the same problem differently. The Torch Awards ask what you did next.
We have been recognized for the quality of our installs, and we are proud of that work. Our crews earned back-to-back GAF President's Club Awards, and Qualified Remodeler named us a 2026 Customer Satisfaction Leader on the strength of a 94 percent independently surveyed recommend rate.
An ethics award measures something those cannot. It asks whether the homeowner who never left a review, never called to complain, and never thought about us again was still treated fairly. That describes most of our customers, and it is the part of the business nobody sees.

Doug Farr accepted the award, but the recognition belongs to the people who earned it day to day: the project managers who return calls on a Friday evening, the installers who protect a homeowner's landscaping as if it were their own, and the customer service staff who take the hard calls instead of letting them roll to voicemail.

Great Lakes Home Remodeling is a BBB Accredited Business with an A+ rating, and our full record, including reviews and how we responded to complaints, is public on our BBB Business Profile. We encourage every homeowner in Toledo, Cleveland, and Detroit to look up any contractor they are considering the same way. Check the rating, then read the complaint responses. A company that answers complaints carefully and in writing is usually the one that will still answer the phone after the job is done.
Thank you to BBB Serving Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan for the recognition, and to the homeowners across Ohio and Michigan who trusted us with their homes. In September we wrote that finalist was not the finish line. The same is true of winning, and we intend to keep earning it one roof at a time.
